Danielle Bates is the principal designer at her own interiors company, Danielle Bates Design, which she founded after returning from nine years of living in New York. Whilst she lived in New York, she studied at Parsons School of Design and was then employed by Meyer Davis Studio to work on multiple hospitality projects. Over the past 20 years, Danielle has worked on many high-end residential projects throughout the country, and in Australia. She also has a commercial portfolio and has worked on a number of restaurants and office spaces in Auckland. Recently, she has completed a refit of Rata Restaurant in Queenstown.
Danielle’s interior design approach and execution are guided by three fundamental principles: architectural tonal texturing, defined as the creation of depth and form in an architectural manner; a neutral palette that allows for colour, personality and distinctiveness through art, accessories and accent furniture; and a synergy between exterior and interior materials.
Clients and architects often describe her interiors as calming, individualised and cohesive. Bevond this, Danielle is motivated to create spaces that are unique, relevant, and timeless.
